Online Catalog of the Video Collection
The catalog provides information about the current stock of the Video Collection; orders, reservations and extensions of borrowed videos can be made by the user herself. In this catalog only filmographic and mediographic key data are collected. For example, apart from directing and screenplay, no other contributors are recorded for films that are already listed in the Internet Movie Database - you can find more information on the extent of the data recorded in our online catalog here (in german).
Users who do not have access to the Video Collection can search the online catalog at the computers in the Theatre, Film and Media Studies Library and order videos for exclusive use on site at the video viewing station in the reading room of the library. Please contact the library staff on site.
Notes on Searching
Currently only a "quick search" is available. Usage of boolean operators and phrase searches are not possible. Multiple search terms are automatically linked with AND. All search terms are automatically truncated on both sides, hence the search term "right" will also result in hits that contain the terms "rights", "copyright", "bright" and so on. Clicking on a column title in the hit list will sort the results in ascending or descending order. By clicking on the ordinal number on the far left in the hit list or on the signature or the DVD or VHS symbol on the far right, a full display of all data available for the respective document can be called up. There you also will find a link for ordering the video.
Notes on Some Information Categories
- "Produktionsland" (country of production): is indicated according to ISO 3166
- "Position am Band" (position on tape): Starting time of the document, calculated from the beginning of the tape on VHS tapes or, in case of DVDs, from the beginning of the corresponding title, if the document itself cannot be started individually via the menu of the DVD; given in the form h:mm.
- "Tonspuren" (sound tracks) & "Untertitel" (subtitles): Slashes between language names indicate separate sound- or subtitle tracks. If different languages are spoken on the same track, the language names are separated by commas.
