Acting Workshop

Jura Soyfer Saal, Institut für Theater-, Film und Medienwissenschaft
Hofburg, Michaelerplatz
1010 Wien

21.-23. September 2016, täglich 16:00 - 19:00

The name of the technique developed by Iker Ortiz de Zarate comes from „neumo“ (lung) and „kinesia“ (body movement). Neumokinesia strives to enable a performer to work as a whole respiratory organism, incorporating an impulse beyond the rational. The aim is to enable the body to respond accurately to every stimulus received or created.

The workshop is situated within a theoretical framework of embodiment as knowledge in contemporary theatre practice and offers a chance to engage with current crosscultural impulses.

The workshop will be held in English; participants (max. 20) are encouraged to bring material they wish to work on. Applications and inquiries should be sent to:

sekretariat.tfm@univie.ac.at (subject: "Neumokinesia")

Workshop with:

Iker Ortiz de Zarate,

Ortiz, an actor, director and teacher, has studied with John Strasberg, Luis Blat, James Price and Amy Werba. Based on his experiences as an actor and director, he has developed Neumokinesia, a training method and acting technique rooted in breathing and physical perception.
